    FAQ

    Questions trekkers ask us most

    Still deciding?

Send us your dates and fitness level and we'll recommend a route honestly, even if it's a shorter one.

    Ask on WhatsApp
How hard is the Everest Base Camp trek?

It is a non-technical walk on well-used trails, but the altitude makes it demanding. Expect 5–7 hours of walking on most days and a high point of 5,644 m at Kala Patthar.

If you can hike 15 km with some climbing on consecutive days, you can prepare for it. We suggest 2–3 months of regular hill walking or stair training beforehand.

When is the best time to trek to Everest Base Camp?

October–November and March–May are the main seasons, with the clearest skies in autumn and rhododendrons and warmer days in spring. December–February is cold but quiet and often clear. June–August is monsoon season, with cloud and frequent Lukla flight disruption.

How much does the Everest Base Camp trek cost?

Our 14-day Everest Base Camp Trek starts from USD 949 per person, and the 11-day Rapid Trek from USD 1,199. Prices include Kathmandu–Lukla flights, permits, a licensed guide and lodging. Check each trip's inclusions for meals, and budget roughly for food, drinks and tips on the trail.

How do you deal with altitude sickness?

Itineraries climb gradually, and longer trips include rest days in Namche and Dingboche. Your guide checks on the group every day, carries a medical kit including Diamox, and will turn around or descend early if anyone shows warning signs. If a rescue is needed, we arrange a helicopter, billed to your insurer.

Read our guide to altitude sickness.

Which permits do I need for the Everest region?

You need the Sagarmatha National Park entry permit and the local Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality permit. Peak climbs also need a climbing permit. We arrange all of them; you just send a passport copy and photos.

What happens if Lukla flights are delayed?

Mountain weather can delay flights for hours or even days. In busy seasons, flights may leave from Ramechhap (Manthali) instead of Kathmandu, a 4–5 hour drive away, and we organise the transfer. Please keep one or two spare days before your international flight home.

What travel insurance do I need?

Your policy must cover trekking at your trip's altitude (up to 6,000 m for treks, higher for peaks), including helicopter rescue and medical evacuation. Trip-cancellation cover is strongly recommended.

Where do we sleep and what do we eat?

In family-run teahouse lodges, usually in twin rooms. Higher up, rooms are simple and bathrooms are often shared. Menus cover Nepali dal bhat plus pasta, noodles, soups and eggs. Dal bhat, with free refills, is the trekker's favourite.

Can I trek privately or on my own dates?

Yes. Any of our Everest trips can run as a private trek for one person or a whole group, on the day you choose. Tell us your dates and we'll send a tailored plan and quote.

    How do I pay?

A deposit of USD 200 per person secures your place. You can pay it by card through our secure online payment page. The balance is paid before departure or on arrival in Kathmandu.
